Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
The KCDHH acts as an advocate for deaf and hard of hearing persons on legislative issues as well as a consultant to the Governor, General Assembly, and various state and local governmental agencies concerning policies and programs that pertain to people with hearing loss. In addition to the duties mandated by the legislature, KCDHH provides information, referral and advocacy services and an interpreter referral service for state agencies.
Council for Exceptional Children (CEC)
The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving the educational success of individuals with disabilities and/or gifts and talents. CEC advocates for appropriate governmental policies, sets professional standards, provides professional development, advocates for individuals with exceptionalities, and helps professionals obtain conditions and resources necessary for effective professional practice.

Family Guide to Assistive Technology
First Steps Program
First Steps, Kentucky’s early intervention system, serves children from birth to age 3 with developmental delays or specific medical conditions known to cause developmental delays. First Steps services are available statewide and include; developmental intervention, vision and audio logical services, communication development and assistive technology. Anyone can call the district point of entry office to refer a child who may have a developmental delay or affecting medical condition to the First Steps service systems.

Kentucky Alternate Assessment Program (KAAP)
The Kentucky Alternate Assessment Program was developed in 1990 as a result of the Reform Act of 1990 to provide schools and programs with a valid and reliable means of assessing the instruction provided to students with moderate and significant disabilities (i.e., for the less than 1% of the total student population for whom traditional assessments would be an inappropriate measure of progress).
Kentucky Assistive Technology Service Network (KATS)
The KATS Network is the Kentucky Assistive Technology project operating within its lead agency, the Department for the Blind, Workforce Development Cabinet. It consists of a statewide network of organizations and individuals connecting to enhance the availability of assistive technology devices and services to improve the productivity and quality of life for individuals with disabilities. Through advocacy activities and capacity building efforts, the mission of this collaborative system is to make assistive technology information, devices and services easily obtainable for people of any age and/or disability.

Kentucky Department for Aging and Independent Living (DAIL)

Kentucky Parent Resource Centers (PRCs)
Eleven Kentucky school districts provide information and support to parents of exceptional children through locally funded and staffed Parent Resource Centers.
Kentucky Parents Teacher Association (PTA)
The PTA is the oldest and largest volunteer association working exclusively on behalf of children and youth. National PTA was formed in 1897 and Kentucky PTA was organized as an affiliate in 1918. PTA is an advocate for all children and youth in the areas of education, health and safety.

KPFC is a private, nonprofit children's mental health advocacy organization. KPFC's vision is to improve the quality of life for children, youth, and young adults facing emotional, social, and behavioral challenges and to encourage the healthy functioning of their families. KPFC’s mission is to nurture hope for futures through: education to individuals, their families, the professionals that serve them and the public in general; advocacy to improve outcomes and quality of life for children, youth, and young adults; and reaching out to groups that do not currently receive adequate services.
Kentucky Post School Outcome Study
The Kentucky Post School Study (KyPSO) @ the Human Development Institute (HDI), University of Kentucky, is a study conducted on behalf of the Kentucky Department of Education, Division of Exceptional Children Services (KDE/DECS). The purpose of the study is to determine the post school outcomes, one year after their school exit, of former students (FS) who received special education.
Kentucky Special Education Cooperative Network
The Kentucky Special Education Cooperative Network consists of eleven (11) Special Education Cooperatives located across the state.

Kentucky Special Parent Involvement Network, Inc. (KY-SPIN)
KY-SPIN, Inc. (Kentucky Special Parent Involvement Network) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to promoting programs which will enable persons with disabilities and their families to enhance their quality of life. Eighty-Five percent of all program income goes to direct services to families. SPIN (Special Parent Involvement Network) is a statewide project of KY-SPIN, Inc. SPIN-PTI (Parent Training & Information Project) is funded by the U.S. Dept. of Education. SPIN provides training, information and support to people with disabilities, their parents and families, and information on all types of disabilities and topics for all age groups. Michelle P. Waiver (MPW) Program
The Michelle P. Waiver (MPW) is a home and community-based waiver under the Kentucky Medicaid program developed as an alternative to institutional care for individuals with mental retardation or developmental disabilities. MPW allows individuals to remain in their homes with services and supports.
