Test Administration Information

Administration information concerning current tests and procedures given by the Department of Education will be contained on this page.

K-PREP SPRING TESTS:
The Kentucky Performance Rating for Educational Progress (K-PREP) is administered across Kentucky to grades 3-8 and 10-11 in the Spring. Materials included on this page are the links to the DAC/BAC Manual, Medical forms, and Test Administration Manuals.

EPAS ASSESSMENTS:
EXPLORE, PLAN and ACT assessments are administered to public school students in grades 8, 10 and 11. EXPLORE and PLAN occur during the fall window in September, while ACT is administered in March.

ACCESS for ELLs:
ACCESS for ELLs is an English language assessment tied to the state’s language proficiency standards with varying stages of second language acquisition. It contains social and academic language contexts.

END-OF-COURSE EXAMS:
Kentucky uses the ACT QualityCore assessments for end-of-course requirements in Algebra II, English II, U.S. History and Biology.

COMPASS ASSESSMENTS:
COMPASS assessments are optional assessments given to grade 12 students who have not met the CPE benchmarks on the ACT. COMPASS is a part of the College/Career Readiness Rate.
