Recognizing Effective Educators and Students

Last Updated on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 5:02 AM

Kentucky awards and recognition programs including the Kentucky Teacher of the Year program and the Milken Educator Award program are designed to stimulate creativity and productivity among teacher leaders to keep the best in the profession engaged and serving as change agents.  These programs strengthen the profession by recognizing and rewarding outstanding teachers, and by expanding their professional leadership and policy influences.  The selection and promotion of these highly effective, award-winning educators assists KDE in attracting, motivating and retaining the best talent to the teaching profession.

The United States Senate Youth Program, a student recognition program, provides an opportunity for talented young people to deepen their understanding of the political process and strengthen their resolve to pursue careers in public service.  Recognition of exceptional students instills in them a continued desire to excel as lifelong learners and rewards their academic, civic and community achievements.
